Canadian Senator Charged With Assault and Sexual Assault
by Joi Hubert on 02/12/13
Canadian police arrested Senator Patrick Brazeau last week Thursday (02/07/2013), on charges relating to assault and sexual assault. Brazeau spent the night in jail before being released Friday. After his release on Friday (02/08/2013), he appeared in court to hear charges read against him. Brazeau was released after posting bail, and was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim. Brazeau from Quebec, has left a lot of people disappointed and ashamed of the allegations. Brazeau was appointed to the Canadian Senate, not elected. I have the highest regard for the Canadian Government, living so close to Canada in the Detroit, Michigan area; Canada is only a 20 minute drive away. Having visited Canada many times as an United States Citizen, I have never had a problem vacationing or visiting many areas in Canada. I hope is this blur against the Canadian government is handled properly and quickly. There is also of course, an expressed concern for the victim in this case; and if Senator Brazeau is guilty, it my sincere hope that he is prosecuted to fullest existent of the law.
Six Women Raped Near A Resort Area In Acapulco Mexico
by Joi Hubert on 02/05/13
Several armed men broke in to an Acapulco Mexico beach house attacking several Spanish tourists on Monday Feb 4, 2013. The Spanish nationals (all in their 20’s), vacationing in Mexico, were in the beach house with several friends. The armed men tied up all the men in the beach house with cell phone cables and bikini straps. During a news conference today the Mayor of Acapulco vowed to catch and prosecute the attackers. Violent crimes in or around tourist areas of Acapulco are rare. The Mexican Government is committed to taking all measures to prevent any crimes especially violent crimes against women in the future. I have never been to Mexico, however; I know several people who go every year faithfully. This undoubted, is very troubling and disturbing news. This makes all tourist very alert, and aware in all surrounding. Our prayers go out to the young women and men who experienced this terrible ordeal.

by Joi Hubert on 01/26/13
Rioting broke out in Egypt, after a judge sentences several dozen Egyptians to death as a result of 74 fans being killed after a soccer game in Cairo in February 2012. Opposers to the sentence, angry relatives, & residents, began to riot in a near by port town after the sentence was announced. Since then 27 have been reportedly killed in Egypt as a result of the rioting. Most executions in Egypt are by hanging, and 21 Egyptians are already sensed to death. The remaining 52 defendants will be sentenced on March 9’Th, of which; some have been charged with murder and others have been charged with assisting attackers. At least two of those killed after the judgment was read out load on Egyptian TV, were police officers. There is sadness regarding the loss of those at the sporting event, and further tragedy, nearly one year later. Let’s all remember to pray for peace in the Middle East; and make every effort to be peaceful at all sporting events. Also, if there is anything suspicious at any sporting event you attend, never hesitate to report that. Let’s also remember to be peaceful at the upcoming Super Bowl. Go San Francisco, (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, that’s my pick).
North Korea Crisis
by Joi Hubert on 01/24/13
Ok boys and girls is it just me, or has North Korea gone CRAZY. Why is there always such a level of hostility between the US and North Korea. Clearly there was a conflict that caused the Korean war, however; at what point do we get over that experience. Believe me; although I am a patriot, I understand that the United States does often times but their noses in other countries affairs; for which we (The United States) should not be involved in, but treating nuclear warfare, over anything that does not involve land, finance, or family of your own just seems foolish and demonic. Of course, North Korea says they simply want to test their nuclear abilities through a test launch, however; the United Nations and the United States seem very nervous about North Korea wanting to conduct test launches. Why don't we just simply put President Barack Obama and the President of North Korea in a boxing ring and just let them slug it out, and leave us; (the citizens want to live) out of it. Personally, I’ll take $100.00 on the President of North Korea, because of the kick boxing thing they do. Please share your thoughts.
Sad News From A Texas Area College Campus
by Joi Hubert on 01/22/13
A shooting has taken place at Lone Star College in Texas. Two people are believed to have been shot. Witness heard five gun shots and then havoc broke out immediately following the gun shots. Reports are continually developing and being updated; please remember the Texas area today. Also, please feel free to chime in with any thoughts about how we can improve safety for students, staff, faculty, and visitors on all college campuses. I remember my days at Wayne State University, and always having the wisdom to walk with a classmate or in a crowd. I never felt unsafe except for leaving some night classes after dark, and having to walk to my car in the parking lot or parking structure; which I admit were always well lit. In addition, the Wayne State University Police are always around. They were sometimes an irritant about parking tickets and making Michigan left turns, but otherwise always made me feel safe. Thanks, Wayne State University Police in Detroit Michigan, for a job welll done.
